L-carnitine, also known as levocarnitine, is a naturally occurring quaternary ammonium compound involved in cellular fatty-acid metabolism. It functions as a carrier molecule in the transport of long-chain fatty acids across the inner mitochondrial membrane, where they may undergo biochemical oxidation.
In controlled laboratory environments, L-carnitine may be studied in connection with mitochondrial transport, fatty-acid metabolism, cellular energetics, acyl-group balance, enzyme activity, and experimental metabolic models.
Full research description
Published research has examined L-carnitine in relation to exercise, cardiovascular function, body composition, energy metabolism, and various clinical conditions. These investigations do not establish that this independently supplied research material improves athletic performance, promotes weight loss, enhances well-being, or treats heart or circulatory disorders.
Levocarnitine is also the active ingredient in FDA-approved prescription products for specific forms of carnitine deficiency. FDA-approved injectable levocarnitine is indicated for the prevention and treatment of carnitine deficiency in certain patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing dialysis. That approval does not apply to independently sold L-carnitine research materials.
This product is not represented as an FDA-approved medicine, injectable supplement, sterile preparation, dietary supplement, weight-management product, or performance-enhancing product. It is not equivalent to or interchangeable with any approved levocarnitine pharmaceutical formulation.
Storage & handling
Before reconstitution. Keep the sealed vial cool and dark. Lyophilized peptides are stable this way for the period stated on the certificate.
Reconstitution. Add bacteriostatic water slowly against the inside wall of the vial. Swirl gently to dissolve — never shake, as agitation can damage the peptide chain.
After reconstitution. Store refrigerated and use within the window appropriate for the compound under study. Do not freeze once in solution.
